Hello, and welcome to our next article, which will discuss the Heinz Ketchup Fakers. Dive into the world of “fake” ketchup that restaurants use across the world!
Recently, social media networks and prestigious news companies have been bursting with the news of the Heinz Ketchup Fraud, and many have accused hundreds of restaurants of refilling Heinz ketchup bottles with cheaper ketchup from a different brand.
Counterfeit ketchup has been used to refill Heinz ketchup bottles once restaurants run out to save them the abundance of capital required to repetitively purchase authentic Heinz ketchup. The ketchup’s popularity has made it hard for restaurants to keep up with rising Heinz rates and so many have resorted to a despicable form of fraud.

This, of course, is detrimental for Heinz, as not only does it result in a dip of ketchup bottle sales, but also downgrades consumers’ opinion of their ketchup as many are oblivious to the fact that they are sometimes served cheap ketchup in a Heinz bottle.
Stunned by the situation, Heinz quickly scrambled to find a solution. Creativity was flowing through the employees of Heinz, and eventually they decided that the best way to overcome this problem was to ensure customers could tell the difference between real and fake Heinz ketchup. To do this, researchers identified the exact color of their ketchup and used this color on the border of Heinz labels. If the ketchup inside the bottle exactly matched the color on the label, it’s real - if not, it’s fake. The image below displays this:
Ever see some ketchup in a Heinz bottle that looks strange? Don’t hesitate to make sure the correct ketchup is inside to ensure an authentic ketchup eating experience!
